The malign activities of the Iranian regime – including its nuclear ambitions – are a grave threat to Israel, the Middle East, Ukraine and the UK.
Again and again, Iranian leaders have made plain their intention to destroy Israel. Their attempts to develop nuclear weapons pose an existential threat to the world’s only Jewish state.
As the foreign secretary has made clear, Iran must never develop a nuclear weapon.
The IAEA’s warnings yesterday must be the alarm bell the world needs after Iran’s repeated refusal to engage with efforts towards a diplomatic solution led by both the Biden and Trump administrations. As the US has urged, we must act swiftly to ensure Israel’s security and we must remain clear-sighted about the disastrous price for not doing so.
We pray for a swift and peaceful resolution to the current conflict, and for a more peaceful future for the Israeli and Iranian peoples.
