Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper MP

At today’s statement from Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, she set out the government’s view that reform to remove antisemtic and inciteful content from the Palestinian Authority’s educational curriculum is “a crucial part of the Palestinian Authority reforms” required by the American peace plan.

Responding to the Conservative frontbench, she said: “The hon. Gentleman raised the issue of curriculum reform, which I agree needs to take place. That is a crucial part of the Palestinian Authority reforms, and I have discussed that directly with President Abbas. The importance of maintaining the commitments that the Palestinian Authority has made to curriculum reform must be central in both the west bank and in Gaza.”
