At today’s Home Office Questions, LFI parliamentary supporter Christian Wakeford MP pushed the government for detail on its actions against Iranian interference in UK politics.
“It’s now more than two years since The Times reported that Iranian cyber specialists were peddling disinformation in an attempt to influence the results of the 2021 Scottish Parliament elections. That same year, the US Justice Department shut down 36 Iranian-linked websites in a disinformation crackdown. What steps can the Secretary of State lay out for how her own government intends to combat and disrupt the threat of disinformation spread by the murderous Iranian regime here in the UK?”, he asked.
