LFI Director Michael Rubin leaves LFI after a decade

After an incredible decade of service, Michael Rubin has stepped down from his role as director of Labour Friends of Israel.

“It’s been the honour of my professional life to have spent the last 10 years at LFI. There have been times of enormous challenge, not least fighting against the terrible scourge of antisemitism. But I’m so proud of what the team achieved: investment in peacebuilding, banning the IRGC and never shying away from our core principle that support for Israel is a Labour value.”

“I’d particularly like to pay tribute to the wonderful honorary parliamentary chairs I’ve had the pleasure of working with: Joan Ryan, Louise Ellman, Steve McCabe, Jon Pearce and Mark Sewards. Their brave and principled leadership will forever be a source of inspiration to me.”

Michael has been at the heart of LFI since 2016, and as Director since 2020, he led the organisation with real dedication and tenacity through some of the most challenging and significant moments in recent years. His leadership helped strengthen LFI’s voice across the Labour movement and ensured our work on dialogue, peacebuilding and support for a negotiated two-state solution remained consistent, relevant and effective.

We are extremely grateful for everything Michael has given to LFI. His commitment and steady leadership have made a lasting impact on the organisation.

Adrian Cohen, lay chair of Labour Friends of Israel, said: “We are very grateful for the years of service that Michael has given to Labour Friends of Israel, often in very difficult and challenging circumstances. He has made an immense contribution to the advancement of the progressive case for Israel.”

As he steps onto his next chapter, we want to say a huge thank you and wish him all the best in his new role at Stonehaven.
